Dumfries and Galloway day centres face financial changes
Voluntary day centres across Dumfries and Galloway are set to face financial changes under plans to tender services from next year.
The proposed financial model would protect the overall level of core funding available, but all “top-up” payments would be stopped.
At the moment the region’s 10 day centres share £471,000.
From 1 April next year they will be subject to a tendering process as part of a wider redesign of care.
The core cash support will be maintained but extra payments, amounting to a little more than £80,000-a-year, will cease.
The way the funding is shared is also set to change.
The proposed financial model would see core support increased for the day centres in Annan, Dumfries, Newton Stewart and Stranraer.
The six other centres would all see their funding allocations drop.
The reductions range from less than £50 to almost £7,000.
A report detailing the funding proposals will be considered by a social work sub committee later this week.
