Show helps with care in the home

THE public is being invited to visit an exhibition being staged as part of a massive conference in Glasgow this week.

Around 1000 occupational therapists from around the UK will attend the event at the SECC.

The three-day conference brings together professionals to discuss occupational therapy’s contribution across health and social care, including mental health, older people’s care, neurology and helping people get back to work.

The College of Occupa- tional Therapists meeting is expected to provide a £1.5million boost to the city’s economy.

Part of the event is one of the country’s largest health and social care equipment and services exhibitions with the public encouraged to attend to gain information and advice on improving independent living.

The exhibition is free and is aimed at carers, health and social care professionals, elderly people, parents of children with disabilities and adults with mental or physical disabilities.

Julia Scott, chief executive of the College of Occupational Therapists, said: “It is great to be running an exhibition alongside our conference and I encourage anyone seeking support to enable improved independent living to come along.

“We will be able to leave a legacy for many people.”
