Substance abuse unit gets new HQ

A RENOWNED programme for victims of substance abuse is moving its HQ today. LEAP (Lothians and Edinburgh Abstinence Programme) will now be run from a newly refurbished and newly named Woodlands House, at the Astley Ainslie Hospital site in Morningside.

Dr David McCartney, the programme’s clinical lead, said: “It’s a very exciting time for LEAP, having just celebrated our 300th graduate from the programme and with the prospect of moving into a new and bigger facility.

“We obviously will be sad to leave Malta House but the move will allow us to continue to help and support our patients on the road to life changing recovery.”

The service was forced to move from Malta House after owner the Church of Scotland kicked LEAP out so it could sell the premises.
