New rehabilitation service opens in Kirkintilloch

A NEW faculty to rehabilitate those tackling drug or alcohol addictions has opened its doors.

The new centre, on Kirkintilloch’s Broadcroft, has been named ‘The Foundry’.

It is being run by East Dunbartonshire Council in partnership with the SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), with funding from East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership.

A team of five professionals are already helping 55 people with addiction issues, with plenty of capacity for more in the future.

Councillor Michael O’Donnell, convener of the council’s social work committee, said: “Already The Foundry is becoming seen as an integral community resource within East Dunbartonshire.

“I wish everyone involved with the service, every success for the future.”
