Scottish children’s charity to shut down most of its services

A Scottish children’s charity will close most of its services in September after it lost most of its income.

The Kirkcaldy-based charity Attention Fife announced on its Facebook page that it would be ending its office operations because it could no longer pay the rent for the building and that work to empty the office was already under way.

The charity’s website will continue to run until May next year with a volunteer-staffed telephone helpline service also set to continue, the charity said.

Accounts held by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator show that the charity’s income fell from £48,852 in 2010 to £8,392 the following year. It reduced its outgoings from £57,136 to £20,650 over the same period.

Attention Fife, which registered as a charity in 1998, provides an information and support network for children and families affected by attention deficit disorder.

Its website says the organisation is “committed to developing and providing an holistic support and information service to the many families within Fife affected by ADHD-type challenges”.

As well as a telephone helpline, the charity also provides a range of services such as a resource library, workshops and parent support groups.
