Edinburgh volunteers asked to share 100 Words
VOLUNTEERS from Edinburgh are being invited to share their experiences in a new campaign launched by Volunteer Development Scotland.
100 Words will take a snapshot of volunteering as it exists at grass roots level in Scotland today, by capturing the thoughts of volunteers in a hundred words or less.
Targeting feedback from people from all walks of life the campaign aims to find out what inspires people to volunteer as well as revealing the enjoyment, the challenges and the frustrations that form part of the experience.
Over a million Scots take part in some type of formal volunteering every year with many more contributing their time to participate in some aspect of informal volunteering.
George Thomson, chief executive of VDS, said: “We’re asking volunteers to take a few minutes to share in one hundred words their experience of volunteering in Scotland.
“This is a chance for the many thousands of people who give up their time to assist schools, clubs, charities or their local communities to express what it all means to them.
“100 Words will also give us valuable insight into what can be done to address some of the challenges and frustrations that volunteers face from day to day.”
