Scotland’s Care Accolades finalists announced

The search for the best social service projects, teams and organisations showcasing innovation, excellence and dedication in Scotland is nearly completed as the finalists are announced.

The Care Accolades 2012, organised by the SSSC gives the chance for social service workers and teams to highlight and celebrate the life changing work that takes place every day and provides a better service for people who use them.

This year’s 27 finalists are from social services across Scotland, and highlight diverse services and projects covering everything from supporting young people to move away from gang culture to an improved sense of wellbeing in the community to a project that identifies the benefits of Creative Arts for people with dementia.  Each of these projects illustrates the need, more than ever, of providing excellent and effective social services in today’s economic climate that address the challenges within our communities.

Garry Coutts, Chair of the Care Accolades 2012 judging panel said:

“The Care Accolades recognises innovation, change and the delivery of services.  This year we have seen some outstanding applications and brilliant projects that are being delivered throughout Scotland.  It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to hear about these projects.

“All of the Care Accolade judges were very impressed by the high quality of care in Scotland and in particular the range of partnership working from across all sectors, not just in social care.  The evidence which we’ve have seen which shows the impact these projects are starting to have on the people that use them.”

The finalists and guests will find out who has won at the award-winning Care Accolades afternoon tea and award ceremony will be held at Perth Concert Hall on the 22 June 2012.
