Peebles health centre plan set to proceed
Work is set to start on a new “health hub” in the Scottish Borders after the award of the tender for the first phase of the project.
The development at Hay Lodge Hospital in Peebles is funded by NHS Borders and Scottish Borders Council.
It will provide both health and social work services under one roof.
NHS Borders chief executive Calum Campbell said it would allow “innovative and sustainable services” to be offered in Tweeddale.
He added: “Most importantly, it will provide the kind of health and social care that will help us to support people to remain independent for as long as possible.”
It is hoped construction work could begin in a matter of days.
It will take several months to complete but NHS Borders said “every effort” would be made to minimise disruption.
