Highland company recognised for excellence

Highland Home Carers has been recognised at the annual Scottish Council for Development and Industry Highlands and Islands Business Excellence Awards for its approach to people development.
The Global Energy Award for Excellence in People Development was presented to Highland Home Carers, recognising HHC’s commitment to invest in training and development which far exceeds the industry norm.
Highland Home Carers has invested in certificated training with 50% of employees holding or working towards relevant qualifications. Highland Home Carers are leading the sector in making a commitment that all staff will hold a social care qualification by 2015.
In the last two inspections the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Service graded Highland Home Carers at Level 5 with quality assurance systems rated at Level 6 – the highest possible level. These are outstanding results for the sector.
HHC are at the cutting edge of the changing face of social care – taking it away from institutions and placing it firmly in the communities where clients want to remain.
Stephen Pennington, Managing Director, Highland Home Carers said: “We are delighted to be given this award which is recognition of the commitment of all our employees who jointly own the business. Social Care will be increasingly important in sustaining people in their own homes longer as the demographics of Scotland change and it is vital that care staff are properly trained. We always put quality first and will continue to do so.”
