Borders social work staff recognised at awards ceremony

More than 200 social work employees had their achievements recognised at the Scottish Borders Council Social Work Staff Awards.

All employees who have completed professional training during the year were invited to receive their certificates which were kindly presented by Christine Grahame MSP, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale.

Anna Fowlie, SSSC Chief Executive attended the awards and added her own praise to all the staff; “People should have the knowledge and skills to do their jobs to their utmost ability and that should be recognised.  Recognition helps to promote confidence and professional pride.  We have seen over the last 10 years a real growth in confidence amongst the people who learn and develop their own skills, and that in turn helps the social work and care sector to be taken seriously as professionals in your own right alongside colleagues working in health and education.”
