Scottish Borders care charge review gets under way

Scottish Borders Council has begun a review of the impact of changes to its charges for social care services.

A number of amendments were made to its policies in November last year following a three-month consultation.

Director of social work Andrew Lowe said the authority was keen to get “further feedback” on the move.

The council has said the principles behind the new policy were “equity and fairness” across a wide range of services.

The views of all interested groups and individuals are being sought as part of the analysis of the policy.

Mr Lowe said he was confident that the principles applied had resulted in a “fair review” of the system.

However, he urged as many people as possible who had been affected by the changes to contact the council.

Comments can be made until 24 June.
