Art of Living Lifestyle show will give budget holders choices
Glasgow Social Care Providers Forum is organising a major Lifestyle Show to bring together personal budget holders on Self Directed Support and the whole range of organisations who can help them live life to the full.
The Art of Living Lifestyle Show will be held in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on February 23 next year.
Charlie Barker, Director of GSCPF, said: “The problem facing the growing number of people with their own budgets is that the market is still in development and that makes it difficult for them to know what they can buy.
“Experience is already showing us that people on SDS don’t just want to spend their budgets on basic support. Controlling their own finances widens their horizons and gives them the confidence to live fuller lives.
“Service providers, public and private organisations and individuals who want to meet these demands also need to be able to showcase their offerings.
“The Art of Living Lifestyle Show is the first major event to bring all these people together”.
Lifestyle Show will feature eight zones, reflecting different areas of people’s lives. They are:
1. home, personal space, environment, community
2. citizenship, purpose, contribution
3. assets, money, resources, worth
4. playtime, hobbies, fun
5. relationships, sexuality, equality, love
6. health & care support
7. training, education, work, volunteering, personhood
8. faith, spirituality
There will also be two other zones:
1. Personalisation & Self Directed Support
2. Coffee and Relaxation
Booking details for this show will be available early January 2011. Watch this space.
