Care Commission to introduce single quality theme inspections for low risk services

To ease handover of the Care Commission’s work to the new scrutiny body that comes into existence on 1 April 2011, the Care Commission will implement single quality theme inspections for low risk services from October 2010.

This means that until 31 March 2011, services with current grades of 4 or better and a low RSA (regulatory support assessment) will be inspected against one quality theme: ‘Care and Support’. The Care Commission has designed this inspection method carefully to ensure that the health and wellbeing of people who use care services is not compromised. Inspectors will have comprehensive guidance on how to carry out this type of inspection.
