Perth care centre officially opens
A centre delivering care services for vulnerable children and their families was officially opened in Perth yesterday.
The £1.8million facility started operating last year and has brought together teams providing a range of services to children throughout Perth and Kinross who need extra support and early intervention for their education and care.
This includes a respite service for families caring for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties and a 24-hour on-call social work service for emergencies.
The teams also offer intensive support to avoid children being taken into care, as well as provide facilities to interview youngsters who are the subject of child protection investigations.
Council leader Ian Miller, who officially opened the centre yesterday, said: “This facility is an exciting development for the council, bringing together a range of services under one roof, with a particular focus on early intervention which we consider crucial for the future of children and our communities.
“It is also leading to us looking at different ways of working and sharing good practice with our partners, which I very much welcome.”
