North Lanarkshire Council agrees funding support for projects
THREE vital projects that deliver key services to vulnerable people affected by homelessness will continue to receive funding from North Lanarkshire Council.
A total of £95,000 will be given to the services after it was agreed to continue funding at a recent meeting of the housing and social work committee.
The projects set to benefit include the Reachout Education Project, which is delivered by Motherwell and Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau and will receive £20,000 over the coming year.
The project ensures that young people receive training to become more aware of issues relating to housing and homelessness, money matters and citizenship.
Another funding contribution of £50,000 is to be made to NHS Lanarkshire’s health and homelessness service for people living in temporary and supported accommodation units.
The People Programme, delivered by the Access Service within the council’s learning and leisure services, is the third project being funded and they will receive £25,000.
This service receives around 120 referrals each year and provides access to training, education and employment opportunities for young unemployed people who are also likely to be at risk of homelessness.
