Knowledge management strategy for social services launched

‘Sharing Knowledge, Improving Practice, Changing Lives’, a knowledge management strategy for social services in Scotland was launched in Edinburgh on 17 March 2010 by Adam Ingram, Minister for Children and Young People.

The Minister emphasised the important role for the strategy in equipping the social services workforce with the confidence to deliver effective outcomes for people who use services and their carers.

Individuals attending from a wide range of agencies also heard from Harriet Dempster, ADSW President, who highlighted the key relevance of the different elements of the strategy.

Harry Stevenson from South Lanarkshire Council, Judith Midgley from the Voluntary Sector Social Services Workforce Unit and David Rennie from the Private Care Sector Workforce Initiative, early members of the Managed Knowledge Network, each outlined how they were implementing the strategy within their own agencies.

Susan Lindner highlighted the resources available within SSKS (Social Services Knowledge Scotland) and Ian Watson outlined the support available for the development of information literacy.
