Wigtonshire care centres under theat from budget cuts
TWO WIGTOWNSHIRE care centres for adults with learning difficulties could face closure. A proposal to shut four of the six Activity and Resource Centres (ARCs) in Dumfries and Galloway was made at a Council Social Services committee meeting on Tuesday.
The move would result in the loss of 30 jobs but it has not yet been decided which of the centres would face the axe. This leaves the facilities in Stranraer and Newton Stewart among the ones that could go.
