Positive report for North Lanarkshire Council
TOP marks for its services for older people, children, and disabled people from key independent agencies – these are some of the highlights in North Lanarkshire Council’s Performance Report for 2008/09.
During the year the council received a very positive Best Value Report from Audit Scotland, strong report cards for schools in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education reports, and an excellent Social Work Inspection Agency report for social work services.
“All our employees and elected members work hard to deliver the best possible services for our residents and we believe we do a good job,” said council leader Jim McCabe.
“But it is important that our work is reviewed by independent experts to ensure we are meeting the standards required. So it was excellent news to receive such positive reports this year for some vital areas of our work.
“I am very pleased with our performance over the last year, particularly in light of the difficult economic situation that everyone is facing. “Some of the developments that I am particularly proud of are our increasing home care and supported living services for older people and people with a disability and raising our recycling rates to 38.9 per cent.”
