Aberdeen to host social care and wellbeing recruitment and careers day
Aberdeen City Council’s Social Care and Wellbeing service will hold a special recruitment and careers day next week. The event will go ahead on Monday 21 September, 11–3pm, at Cowdray Hall next to the Art Gallery, with staff from a wide variety of teams in the service on hand to talk about their jobs and tell people how to find out more about working in the profession.
From occupational therapists and social workers to administrators and trainers, there is a broad range of possible careers in Social Care and Wellbeing. The service is aware people might not be familiar with all the opportunities available and is particularly keen to hear from people with an interest or involvement in the field or from people thinking about a new job or change of career.
Many of the positions benefit from flexible working opportunities, which would be especially suitable for students looking for temporary jobs to fit in with their studying and for semi-retired people looking for part-time work. Other careers would suit fully qualified and experienced social care professionals. The service involves supporting and helping citizens so all the jobs have the added benefit of being hugely rewarding and satisfying.
Throughout the day there will be opportunities for people to apply for any vacant positions in the service and representatives from the council’s Human Resources service will be on hand with application packs and advice.
The recruitment and careers day follows a previous market day for Social Care and Wellbeing, which saw the launch of the new service following the city council’s restructure.
