Renfrewshire Council social worker quits amid sex allegations
A SOCIAL worker suspended by bosses while they investigated claims he performed a disgusting sex act on himself in front of a terrified mum has quit just days before a disciplinary meeting.
The man was due to face Renfrewshire Council chiefs to answer questions over his conduct but resigned before his hearing.
He was sent home on paid-leave by his superiors after the mum reported that he also groped her during a trip in his car.
She claims the social worker also made a number of suggestive comments before carrying out the disgusting act after offering her a lift to a chemist’s store.
The woman reported the social worker to bosses and chiefs immediately launched a probe.
But he has now quit his post.
Last night, the mum at the centre of the allegations said she was glad he was no longer working for the council: “I’m very pleased about this.
“This man should not be allowed to work with vulnerable people.”
He was not the woman’s regular social worker but did have some involvement in her troubled case in the past.
We have decided not to name the mum, who has a young daughter, but she told the Paisley Daily Express back in April: “I was walking into town when the social worker drove past and he peeped his horn, offering me a lift.
“He took me to the chemist before taking me back down the road. It was then that he groped me. Then he grabbed my hand and put it on his privates.”
The woman, who says she has been going through a “difficult time” recently as her partner is currently locked up in jail, claims the social worker later stopped the car in a secluded area and exposed his private parts before performing a sex act on himself.
“I feel bad for getting in the car,” admitted the mum, who says she has been left traumatised by the alleged incident. “I shouldn’t have done that.
“I felt like I didn’t have any control of the situation but what he did is just not right.”
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a social work employee has resigned prior to a disciplinary hearing into an allegation of inappropriate conduct by that employee against a social work client.”
