Hamilton Crèche Ataff Honoured At Awards Ceremony

More than 20 crèche service staff have been awarded level two and three Scottish Vocational Qualifications in childcare learning and development.

And the crèche assistants, who were honoured at a special ceremony at Chatelherault Country Park, have now applied for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), following their successful participation in work-based assessments and a series of interactive workshops.

Staff were not only evaluated on the quality of their interaction with the children and parents, standard of activity planning, first aid provision and their ability to assess and avert potential risks.

Ann Brodie, the council’s crèche service officer, said: “I am delighted for the 21 crèche assistants that their hard work and commitment has been recognised.

“They had to undertake a number of workshops and show a great deal of commitment to attain SVQ level two and three status. Their hard work and dedication is clearly shown through their interaction and relationships with the children in crèches across South Lanarkshire.”

The SSSC is responsible for registering and regulating people who work in social services throughout Scotland. It is responsible for raising standards in the Scottish social service workforce. Childcare professionals are expected to meet agreed standards of conduct, practice, education and training.
