Top Award For ‘Excellent’ Day Care Service

A DAY care service in the city for disabled adults has been given a top award by the Care Commission.

The council-run Firrhill Day Service caters for around 120 adults a week providing them with leisure and educational pursuits, with each member on an individual planning package.

The Care Commission – which awarded it an “excellent” grading – is thought to have been especially impressed with the landscaped grounds, which were developed with input from the service users.

Not only does it allow disabled people in the area to participate in arts and crafts, but carers are also given a break from their daily duties thanks to the centre.

Health and social care leader Cllr Paul Edie said: “I am delighted that Firrhill has received such a good inspection report. It provides a worthy and much-valued service to people with physical disabilities.”
