East Dunbartonshire Social Work Staff Praised
WATCHDOGS have praised a council social work department for the running of three children’s homes. The credit followed a Care Commission inspection of children’s Units in Lenzie, Milngavie and Kirkintilloch.
The watchdog’s report gave the service two good grades – for the quality of care and support, and the environment.

It also received two very good grades – for the quality of staffing, and management and leadership.
Councillor Michael O’Donnell, Convener of East Dunbartonshire’s Social Services Committee, said, “This is yet more good news for the council’s social work service.
“It clearly reflects the excellent progress that has been achieved over the last 12 months, particularly in respect of the leadership and management of the service.
“Our three units care for children and young people with challenging and complex needs. The children and young people that are looked after are individuals with unique needs, and the staff work with them and their families to ensure they receive the best opportunities in social development, health, education and leisure.
“It’s clear from the inspection findings that our three units provide an environment where children and young people can develop into independent and confident young adults, something which will stand them in good stead as they make their way through life.”
