Minister’s Visit Over Aberdeen Child Care
Children’s Minister Adam Ingram is visiting Aberdeen to see how council child protection services have improved following a critical report.
After an inspection in April and May, it was claimed that children living at risk of abuse or neglect were not being given adequate protection.
Mr Ingram will meet social work expert Philip Cotterill, who was brought in to shake up services.
The council was recently praised for improvements in adoption and fostering.
But First Minister Alex Salmond had branded the earlier critical report into child protection as “unacceptable”.
Inspectors said they were particularly concerned about the numbers of children living in high-risk situations with drug-abusing parents.
