Carers Set To Speak Out About Need For Local Services
CARERS are set to speak out about the need for services and support at The Princess Royal Trust Lanarkshire Carers’ Centre annual general meeting in Motherwell today.
John Cox, from Motherwell, is one of the carers who will speak about the importance of the carers’ centre to his family and the transformation it has made to their lives.
John, whose son is autistic, said: “’The carers’ centre provided funding for me to attend the Dad’s the Word Conference where I met so many other fathers in my position.
“It can be hard for men to admit we need support but I’d encourage everyone to begin to think about their own needs. It has made such a difference to my family’.”
The Lanarkshire centre not only provides services and support to carers, but is managed by a Board of Management comprised mainly of carers.
The meeting invites people with an active interest in carers’ services to take part in a discussion about planning services for the future.
This will include representatives from North Lanarkshire Carers Together, South Lanarkshire Carers’ Network, North and South Lanarkshire Young Carers and Partners in Play, social work resources and NHS Lanarkshire.
The meeting and stakeholders meeting will take place in The United services Club, Mabel Street, Motherwell.
