Carers ‘Romped While Looking After Child Sex Charge Teenager’ Claim
CARERS have been accused of having sex while they were supposed to be looking after an alleged teenage pervert at a £1000-a-day home.
It is claimed staff enjoyed romps on night duty at the luxury house where the 17-year-old is living. The youth is awaiting trial on charges of committing a vile sex attack on an eight-year-old boy.
Instead of being locked up in a young offenders’ institution, he is living in a four-bedroom farmhouse in Dumfriesshire with internet access and satellite TV.
A row erupted on Monday after the Record revealed it is costing taxpayers £8000 a week for the boy’s care. Now, the controversy has deepened after three of the youth’s care workers at the house were sacked.
They claim they were fired for complaining to bosses that other workers were having sex on duty. They also objected to the way the boy was pampered at the home.
It was claimed staff took the teenager on 100mph thrill rides through the countryside and allowed him to “come and go” as he pleased.
Carers alleged the youth was caught downloading child porn on a computer at the home. But he is still being allowed access to the internet and he even has his own Bebo page.
A source said: “Three members of staff have been sacked. They reported a catalogue of errors by colleagues.
“They were furious that this guy should be treated like a king.
“They were sickened by the philosophy of the other staff, which was basically to do everything to keep him happy and not to rock the boat.
“It is appalling to think that staff in charge of this teenager could be having sex while they are on duty.”
The boy has seven carers to look after him in the house. He has been taken mountain biking, skating and bowling. Staff have also taken him to the cinema and on breaks at holiday parks.
The boy has been allowed out on unsupervised trips to England to meet his mother, who lives in the quiet town where the alleged sex offence took place.
He is due to appear for trial next month.
Private company, Junior Adult Continuous Care, who provide care to troubled youngsters, are paid to supervise the boy. He was already under their care when he allegedly carried out the sex attack on the child.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sent to the house as an alternative to being held in Polmont Young Offenders Institution in Stirlingshire.
Last night, JACC’s director of care, Colin Jackson, refused to comment.
