Hearts Tackle Offending With Youth Scheme
HEARTS FC have teamed up with a council’s youth justice team to tackle young offending in the region.
The joint initiative in West Lothian aims to help youngsters build their confidence and self-esteem and make better choices in their lives. It will also help address issues such as sectarianism, racism and poor behaviour.
Youngsters will be put through a series of activities with Hearts’ coaches, including fitness sessions, football training and lectures from Show Racism the Red Card representatives.
The attendees will also be taught how to write football match reports, attend a match and take part in a press conference.
Frank Anderson, the council’s community services leader, said: “The youth justice team does a vital job in addressing young people’s offending behaviour, and is part of a wide-ranging strategy which we aim to build on.
“This programme will tackle issues that have been identified as the causes of offending behaviour and is a wonderful opportunity for those taking part.”
