Care Workers Honoured At National Awards Night
Care workers from Edinburgh have been honoured at an awards ceremony. Marilyn McCann and her team from RBAS Braeside House were honoured with care sector innovation of the year award at the Scottish Care ceremony in Glasgow.
And Rene Rigby, unit manager from Morningside Nursing Home, was awarded dementia care manager of the year.
Television presenter Kaye Adams presented them with the awards.
Staff at Braeside House developed a teaching package to share with other agencies, that covered misconceptions and common eye conditions.
Rene has been a nurse for 45 years, mostly dedicated to the care and management of people with dementia.
The dinner followed Scottish Care’s annual conference where Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing announced a fresh guidance on the way NHS should fund continuing care will be issued in January and that Scottish Care has already provided input in to this review.
