Council May Build New Care Homes

Highland Council is poised to make a major U-turn by building five new care homes. The proposal will be put to the full council at the end of this month.

It will cost £21m to build the five homes and an extra £5m a year to service the loans required, as well as providing other services.

There had been a plan to commission the new care homes from the private sector. The new administration’s proposal will go before the full council on 28 June.
