RCN Responds To Scottish Conservative Manifesto
Responding to the Scottish Conservative Party’s manifesto, Jane McCready, Chair of RCN Scotland said: “We welcome the manifesto’s emphasis on funding mental health services and the plan to support affordable housing for key workers.
However, it is disappointing that it only refers to nurses, the largest group of professionals in the NHS, once.
“Given the wide range of nursing and public health issues that we and other nursing organisations have raised, we had hoped for more tangible policies on the nursing workforce in Scotland.”
“We are also concerned about the proposal on NHS 24. It is already clinician-led and provides a high standard of patient care to the people of Scotland with high user satisfaction levels. It has moved in the right direction since its last review and we are not convinced that another one will assist its development.”
