Police Operation Targets Dealers

Police carried out dawn raids across Fife yesterday in a bid to net alleged drug dealers. In the biggest-ever operation by Fife Police, more than 130 cops targeted 11 addresses in co-ordinated raids.

Teams in stab-proof jackets, body armour and balaclavas, hit homes in Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath. Some used electric-shock shields to protect them from dogs.

Superintendent Ian Hutton, who led Operation Impact, revealed that 16 alleged dealers were arrested and will appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today. He added: “We acted on information given by locals and want more people to realise that they can do something about this evil in their midst.”
