NHS Pay Deal Updated
NHS staff are to receive pay increases in full from April 1, as recommded by the independent pay review bodies, following further consideration by the Scottish Executive. Health Minister Andy Kerr said:
“NHS staff make a huge contribution to the success of the service in Scotland, and I value that. Over the last few years we’ve seen the workforce grow significantly, with NHS Scotland now employing more nurses, doctors and allied health professionals than ever before. We want to retain and support those staff as the service develops.
“The finances of NHS Scotland are on a sound footing. Whilst not stepping outside of the overall UK negotiated pay system, on reflection I am therefore able to announce that we’ll be meeting the recommendations of the pay review bodies in full from April 1.”
The Executive’s decision as regards the various staff groups covered by the Pay Review Bodies is as follows:
- Nurses and Other Health Professions – 2.5 per cent
- A cash amount of £1,000 per annum, to be added to each point in the pay scale for consultants, staff and associate specialists/non-career grades (SAS/NCCGs) and salaried dentists
- A cash amount of £650 per annum to be added to each point on the pay scale for doctors and dentists in hospital training.
- General Practitioners will receive a 0 per cent uplift
