RCN Appoints New Director For Scotland

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Theresa Fyffe as Director for RCN Scotland.

Theresa Fyffe is currently the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at the Scottish Executive. She has worked in the Executive’s Health Department since 2000 and in her role as Deputy CNO, provides support to the Chief Nursing Officer and has responsibility for Acute Services, Policy and Strategy, Quality, Clinical Leadership and Research and Development.  She also leads on the implementation of Delivering Care and Enabling Health.

Commenting on the appointment RCN General Secretary, Dr Peter Carter, said: “Theresa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the job.  At a time of extensive change within the Scottish health service, Theresa will bring strategic focus and direction to RCN Scotland and more widely as a member of the RCN UK Executive Team.”

RCN Scotland Board Chair, Jane McCready, added: ‘The RCN is a powerful organisation with the interest of patients and our members at its core.  I am confident Theresa will be an effective leader for RCN Scotland and will work with the Board to deliver on behalf of all our members in Scotland.”

Ms Fyffe’s start date will be confirmed shortly. In the meantime, Jill Cox will continue as Interim Director for RCN Scotland.
