Scottish Social Services ‘Oscars’

Social service organisations from across Scotland have made the shortlist for the prestigious Care Accolades awards to be held on 2 June 2006.

The annual award ceremony for the sector recognises and celebrates the good work and innovation that is employed every day to ensure that Scotland has a highly trained, confident workforce who can deliver effective social services.

Morag Alexander, Chair of the judging panel and Convener of the Scottish Social Services Council said:
“We are very pleased with the excellent response to the Care Accolades this year. This is an ideal opportunity for social service organisations and workers to gain the recognition they deserve. Those that have made it through to the final are examples of what can be achieved through the hard work and dedication of organisations across Scotland.”

The Care Accolades lunch and award ceremony began in 2004 and continues to go from strength to strength. The 17 finalists were selected from 120 applications received from social work and social care organisations and staff throughout Scotland. The Accolades will award employers who have policies in place that retain and support staff, organisations that involve people who use services and carers to ensure that their needs are at the centre of their work and organisations that provide examples of excellence in areas including partnership working and innovative training programmes.

Care Accolades 2006 takes place on 2 June at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels Hotel, Aberdeen and will be hosted by TV presenter and journalist Kaye Adams.
