Inspectors call on residential care home in Fife to make urgent improvements
A care home for adults in Fife must make urgent improvements in the care experienced by residents, inspectors have said.
The Care Inspectorate has served a formal Improvement Notice on Abbotsford Care in Newburgh, following an inspection which raised serious concerns.
The notice lists five areas which require urgent improvement.
These include ensuring service users’ health, safety and well-being needs are met in a manner which promotes their dignity and choice. To do this management must monitor staff appropriately and ensure there are sufficiently trained staff present, in sufficient numbers, to deliver good quality care.
They must also ensure the care experienced by people is right for them and accords with their own individual care plans.
They must also ensure service users consistently receive enough care and support to meet their food and fluid intake requirements as recorded in their care plan to minimise the risk of weight loss and malnutrition.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “The Improvement Notice we have issued clearly lays out the improvements we must see so that the care experienced by people improves quickly.
“We will visit this care home again soon to check on progress and if we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action.”
