Woman dies after fire at Aberdeenshire Council sheltered housing complex
An elderly woman has died after a fire at a sheltered housing complex in Aberdeenshire.
Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of a fire in Nether Davah House on Golf Crescent, Inverurie.
Emergency services said the fire, which broke out at 5.35pm on Wednesday, was quickly extinguished and was contained to a flat within the premises.
An 86-year-old woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she later died of her injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing but it is not considered suspicious.
The woman has not yet been named by Police Scotland.
