Skills for Care Chair shares her experiences on visit to NISCC in Belfast

Dame Moira Gibb, Chair of the UK Sector Skills Council, Skills for Care and Development met with social care leaders and policy makers at the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) in Belfast to discuss workforce planning and skills development for social work and social care.

Colum Conway, NISCC Chief Executive said: “We are honoured to have Dame Moira, Chair of our Sector Skills partnership, with us today. She has many years of experience in managing the strategic direction and review of social services.

“This has been a unique opportunity to tap into the skills and knowledge she has gained from her roles as Chief Executive of Camden Council and Chair of the Social Work Reform Board in England.

“We have had lively debate on the journey social work and social care will travel over the next decade to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society.”
