NI conference to focus on health and social care delivery

A conference taking place in Belfast aims to provide a timely opportunity to discuss the future of health and social care provision in Northern Ireland.

The event will take place on September 16 in central Belfast and bring together key policymakers, with stakeholders from across HSC services, private, and third-sector health and social care providers, pharmacies and other allied health groups, medical associations and trade unions, patient groups, charities, local authorities and academics.

Pamela McCreedy (pictured), Director of Transforming Your Care, Health and Social Care Board and Maeve McLaughlin MLA, Chair, Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety, Northern Ireland Assembly have agreed to deliver a keynote address at the seminar.

It follows Professor Sir Liam Donaldson’s wide-ranging review The Right Time, The Right Place – published in January – which examined the effectiveness of the HSC.

The review set out ten recommendations for change, which will be central to discussion at this conference – including the ‘rebooting’ of Transforming Your Care and changes to commissioning models, improved regulation, incident reporting, and a greater use of new technologies and self-care, alongside efforts to create a stronger patient voice.
