Larne nursing home wins ‘Best Kept’ award
Health Minister Edwin Poots has congratulated Gillaroo Lodge Nursing Home in Larne, on winning the Best Kept Health and Social Care Facility Awards.
Presenting the awards, the Health Minister said: “I extend my warmest congratulations to all the winners in this year’s Best Kept Health and Social Care Facility Awards. They are to be commended for their commitment to the enhancement of indoor and outdoor environments.
“A well-cared for environment makes a real difference to the well-being of service users, which is so important in a health and social care setting. These awards highlight the hard work of Health and Social Care teams, along with their clients, as it is very often a joint effort, and their commitment to making the very best of their shared surroundings.”
Concluding the Minister said: “Special congratulations to overall winner Gillaroo Lodge Nursing Home on winning this prestigious award, well done, it is a great achievement to all involved.”
The awards are organised annually by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC) who recognise facilities that are maintained to the highest environmental standard.
Gillaroo Lodge was named the ‘Best of the Best’ out of a short list of 6 facilities from almost 100 entries across each of the five Health Trust regions. NIAC judges commended the winners for taking ‘every opportunity to create and enhance a truly wonderful environment for patients, staff and relatives’.
