Newtownards care recruitment firm Peninsula Care Services creates 100 jobs
A recruitment company for the care services is creating 100 new jobs as it marks its fifth birthday. Peninsula Care Services, which is based in Newtownards, has just opened its second office in Adelaide Street in Belfast.
The firm has created 50 new jobs for qualified registered nurses and care workers and is currently recruiting another 50 permanent and part-time staff.
Jonny Cook, managing director of Peninsula, said: “Care home and domiciliary recruitment is a booming business.
“There’s a constant need for care facilities and people are often wanting to work through a recruitment company as opposed to directly with a care home, as there’s more flexibility in working hours. At Peninsula we try to accommodate our staff as best we can, so they can have a healthy work/life balance.
“Also, in the run up to Christmas many people are thinking about earning an extra income and Peninsula is becoming an increasingly attractive option as a ‘second’ job.”
Mr Cook worked for 10 years as a care assistant, senior care assistant and manager in a domiciliary agency before starting his own company.
He said: “I have learnt this business from grass roots – in fact, I’m still hands-on if need be.”
Staff can take part in in-house training to obtain a QCF in health and social care, he added.
