Walk and talk invite for potential foster carers
A WALK promoting the need for foster carers will take place in Carrick on Monday. It is being organised by staff from the Northern Trust Recruitment and Assessment Team as part of Foster Care Fortnight.
If you are interested in participating, text your name to 07525771434 to register and meet at the Amphitheatre at 10.00am.
Walkers will leave from the leisure centre and journey through the town centre before returning for free refreshments at approximately 11:30am. They will have the opportunity to speak with staff and foster carers about fostering.
Eilish Scott, the Trust’s Recruitment and Initial Assessment Manager, said that foster carers, said: “Fostering provides children who cannot live with their own families with a loving and stable home; it need not necessarily be a full time commitment. Foster carers can look after children of all ages for anything from a few days to right through their childhood. However, there is currently a particular need for carers to look after young people between 12 and 18 years of age.
“In the Northern Trust we need more foster carers for children who require long and short term placements and weekend respite care. We provide training, financial support and 24 hour social work support to help foster carers undertake the fostering task. The Northern Trust is currently offering new opportunities for £13,000 and £18,000 fee paid foster carers.”
