Strathfoyle woman faces trial over care home thefts
A 35-year-old woman is to go on trial at Londonderry Crown Court accused of stealing more than £64,000 from the residents of a care home.
Juanita Ferguson, of Crannog Park in Strathfoyle, is charged with six counts of theft.
The offences allegedly occurred at the Meadowbank Care Home and date back to May 2005.
During a preliminary enquiry at Londonderry Magistrate’s Court, defence solicitor Seamus Quigley conceded there was a prima facie case to answer.
When asked if she wished to say anything in answer to the charges, Ferguson replied: “Not at this stage.”
Mr Quigley revealed that the total amount allegedly stolen from the residents of the Trench Road care home was “in excess of £64,000”, adding that it was a “breach of trust case.”
Ferguson was released on continuing bail to appear at the Crown Court on March 5 for arraignment.
