Charges For Care Of Intellectually Disabled ‘A Disgrace’

Disability groups are hitting out at charges for long-term care for intellectually disabled people.

Campaigners say it has happened because legislation was rushed through to redress the illegal charging of older people in nursing homes without considering the impact on other users.

Deirdre Carroll from the national association ‘Inclusion Ireland’, has said the arrangements are inappropriate for the disabled.
