Simon Community Concerned About Possible Budget Cuts

The Simon Community says it is concerned that the Government will cut funding for homeless services in this December’s budget.

The charity says the budget effectively represents the last opportunity for the Government to reach its own target of ending long-term homelessness by 2010.

However, it says this can only be achieved if the Government decides not to introduce cutbacks in funding due to the deteriorating public finances.

It says any cutbacks in the budget must not affect people experiencing poverty and social exclusion.
