Teenager Charged With Assault On Belfast Paramedic
Police in the North have charged an 18-year-old man with assaulting an ambulance worker who was trying to treat him in Belfast.
The ambulance crew had been called to treat an unconscious man in the Ballysillan area of north Belfast. However, as they were treating him, he came around and said he did not want to go to hospital.
He then allegedly punched the paramedic and ripped his uniform, leaving the paramedic needing hospital treatment himself.
A police spokesman says a teenager has been charged with a number of offences in connection with the incident, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
He is due to appear before Laganside Magistrates Court this morning.
