Government Publishes Draft Quality Standards For Nursing Homes
The Government’s Health Information and Quality Authority has published new draft quality standards for nursing and residential care homes for the elderly. The guidelines have been drawn up in response to a series of scandals surrounding how older people are cared for.
Members of the public and other interested parties are being asked to express their views on the draft standards, which cover issues like staffing, management and quality of care.
The final version will cover all public, private, and voluntary homes, which will be inspected to make sure the mandatory standards are being met.
