Arson Attack At NI Special School

An arson attack has caused several thousand pounds’ worth of smoke damage to a school in Newry.

The fire was discovered at Rathore School in the Martins Lane area of the city shortly after 1900 BST on Monday.

According to a PSNI spokeswoman, it was started in a bin to the rear of the school, which caters for pupils with severe learning difficulties.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police in Newry.
