Social workers urged to contribute to research dealing with legacy of the “Troubles”

Social workers across Northern Ireland are being invited to take part in two projects to help deal with the legacy of the “Troubles”.

Sponsored by the Northern Ireland Association of Social Workers and the Northern Ireland Social Care Council, the projects are being be led by Dr. Joe Duffy, Queens University Belfast with Professor Jim Campbell (University College Dublin), Professor John Pinkerton (QUB) and Professor Carol Tosone (New York University).

  • The ?rst project, described as Voices of Social Work through the Conflict in Northern Ireland, seeks to ascertain the views and experiences of social workers about this topic. It will involve an on-line survey and interviews with individual practitioners. To complete the on-line survey, click on the following internet link: https://goo.gl/forms/vGtohFxXDvrnt8jt1

The ?eldwork involved in these projects will begin Autumn 2017, pending necessary HSC approvals, with completion in Spring 2018 involving a number of publications and conference presentations.
