Woman has ten children removed amid concerns of domestic violence

A woman has had 10 children taken from her care more than a decade after social workers raised concerns about substance abuse, domestic violence and neglect, a family court judge has revealed.

Some of the youngsters have been adopted, some placed into foster care and some placed with relatives, Recorder Susan Jacklin said.

Detail of the case has emerged in a ruling by Recorder Jacklin following a family court hearing in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Social services bosses at a council had asked her to make decisions about the woman’s three youngest children – boys aged between five and nine.

The judge said one should go into council care and the other two should be placed for adoption.

She said decisions had been taken about the futures of the woman’s other seven children in 2006.

Recorder Jacklin said the woman, who is in her early 40s and whose 10 children were fathered by two men, could not identified.

Social workers dealing with the cases of the three youngest children had raised particular concerns about violence at home.

Neighbours had complained of fights at “unearthly” times of day and night.

The woman said when things were bad she would fight or argue with the children’s father every day – and had accepted that the children were frightened.

Social workers had placed the three boys in temporary foster care a year ago.

All three had described foster care as “happy land”, said the judge.
