Cameron appoints Alistair Burt as new Care Minister
As part of the David Cameron’s cabinet reshuffle, Alistair Burt MP has been appointed Minister of State for Care and Support at the Department of Health, while Jeremy Hunt remains as Health Secretary and Edward Timpson retains his position as Children’s Minister.
Mr Burt will take over from outgoing Liberal Democrat Minister, Norman Lamb, who has indicated his intention to run for the party leadership.
He entered Parliament for the first time in 1983 and is the Conservative MP for north east Bedfordshire.
He studied at St John’s College Oxford, where he was president of the university law society. He then became a solicitor in 1980 and served on Haringey Council in London from 1982 to 1984.

In his private life, Alistair and his wife Eve have two children. He enjoys athletics and football, supporting Biggleswade Athletics Club and Bury FC.
